GWO is an NGO which promotes the empowerment of women, youth and children, assisting them to achieve sustainable livelihood and supporting them to realize their right.
GWO started its Need Assessment survey for FFA & FFT projects from WFP in Daikundi & Bamyan Provinces.
The aim of these projects is:
• Strengthen community level resilience and self-reliance through collaborative natural resource management and asset creation activities to create and restore community assets in direct and indirect support of food production.
• Build longer term resilience of communities through reducing post-harvest losses, leveraging value-chains, scaling national fortification, market-based nutrition solutions and linking processors to consumers. This will build-upon achievements under asset creation/ management activities through value-chain development activities, human capital development or other income generating activities.
Under the fund allocation of WFP, GWO succeeded to train 975 women and girls with basic literacy education in Nili district of Daikundi province. The training was organized in two phases. In the first phase the project, the number of 495 women, girls were trained whereas the 480 women were the trainees of the second phase. Besides, the training program, the trainees were provided food packages including wheat, oil, pulse and salt to make them feel free of their family feedings and empower them to get their lesson properly. The project started in December 2006 and completed in March 2007.
Women Peace and Security – Vocational Training (Women Empowerment Daikundi): By implementation of this project during 9 months, the number of 50 poor women will be trained to become skilled in producing standard balls (football, volleyball and small balls) and as well as the beneficiaries will access sustainable income resources afterwards. Moreover, it will support building an active society in future, by providing opportunity for women to become more active in socioeconomic affairs. The project initiative will be reduction of violence rate against women as they would afterward the project implementation will help their families financially. Project started by April 2011 and ends by 31st of December 2011.
Advocacy Program (Public Awareness Program about Children’s Rights) for men and women in Miramar district of Daikundi province funded by COUNTERPART International through BEST. The project started in January 2010 which completed in June 2010 aimed to enhance awareness of local communities in terms of children’s rights. The grant has been allocated for the project was 5000.00 USD which BEST awarded GWO through COUNTERPART assistance for Afghanistan.
The objective of the project was to propagate the regular cultivation and consumption of vegetables among the localities. The all of famer who are busy at cultivation of Agricultures and they will be increased the abilities of farming modern agricultures according to region climate. The farmers will be adds their agriculture products.
